Pendley Manor Hotel Launches Consultation on Expansion Plans

Pendley Manor Hotel is seeking feedback on proposals to deliver a multi-million-pound investment in enhanced facilities and open space at the hotel in Tring.
The proposals include a new and permanent flexible events space which would accommodate weddings, corporate events, and private functions, to meet growing demand. This building, connecting to the hotel’s Harcourt Wing, is to replace the current ‘Rose Garden’ temporary marquee. This events space has been sensitively designed to befit the historic surroundings and includes a green landscaped roof. New high-quality spa and leisure facilities, including a new swimming pool would also be offered.
The planned investment includes the restoration of ‘The Lodge’, Pendley Manor’s historic gatehouse, to provide a new social hub including an open kitchen which could be used for cooking classes and demonstrations, along with flexible arts and crafts space.
To anchor the wider improvements, the proposals include a new hotel bedroom building on the western side of the main hotel site, providing 40 new high quality rooms. The existing Harcourt Wing extension will be reconfigured to provide 23 additional new rooms.
The investment in business and conferencing facilities alongside wider enhancement of the site will allow more community events and festivals to be hosted year-round. Chilfest and the Shakespeare Festival have taken place at the hotel in recent years and will continue.
A sensitive biodiversity-led landscaping programme will allow further outdoor activities, woodland walks and cycling, and aims to provide wellbeing benefits for visitors. The proposals include new connections of indoor spaces and surrounding gardens to encourage year-round use and enjoyment.
Additional parking (+70 net spaces) is required with a new area proposed in The Meadow part of the estate, including new EV charging points, accessible bays, cycle parking, and guest spaces to meet demand.
The community is invited to attend a public drop-in exhibition on Wednesday 30 April 3-8pm at the Simon Suite, Pendley Manor Hotel off Cow Lane (HP23 5QY). Feedback can also be provided at: www.pendley-manor.co.uk/newfacilities.
Chetan Bhanot, General Manager of Pendley Manor Hotel said: ‘As a local employer and successful hotel, we are proud to be part of the community in Tring. Our new proposals signal a major investment into the hotel, which is intended to modernise and enhance our offer to guests through improved hotel space and outdoor areas. It would also enable us to further develop our business conference, wedding facilities and community event space, which provide vital revenue streams for the business.
‘Pendley Manor is in an enchanting setting, and our sensitive designs are intended to add to the experience our visitors and the wider community expect. Subject to planning approval, works would be planned over several years to minimise the impact on our neighbours and hotel visitors.
‘This package of improvements will help us to further grow our offer and help to secure the hotel’s long-term future success and further establish us as a key part of Tring’s social life.’
A planning application is being prepared for submission to Dacorum Borough Council for determination. As part of this, a phasing plan would be submitted which allows for the hotel to remain open during construction, whilst reducing impact on neighbours and visitors.
